Skin Salvation Facial Oil

Having combination skin we do often suffer from the dreaded shiny T-Zone, so traditionally we’ve steered clear of any really heavy moisturisers and likewise anything oily. However, as we’ve learnt over the years, you still need to hydrate oily skin, and the drier areas of our face really welcome it as well. We’ve noticed that facial oils are becoming more and more popular lately, and we predict that’s they’ll be even bigger in 2013.

We were delighted to try the newest addition to the Beatitude range; Skin Salvation Facial Oil. Beatitude are a new luxury aromatherapy brand who are making a name from themselves with bathing oils, soaps and now their facial oil, combining high quality ingredients with their knowledge of essential oils and aromatherapy to ensure their products are incredibly high quality and effective.

Skin Salvation comes in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser, which is very handy as oil can tend to be rather messy! The smell is gorgeous, it’s hard to describe but its literally the scent of relaxation! Containing only 100% pure essential and plant oils Skin Salvation is enriched with Oat Oil, Camellia Oil, Peach Kernel Oil, Rosehip Oil, Daikon Radish, Black Cumin Seed, Squalene (Olive source), Evening Primrose and Natural Vitamin E. Its all of these beauties that give it it’s natural scent, and have a real impact on the skin. The three key ingredients though are Rose, Neroli and Immortelle Oils, which those who know their stuff will recognise as proven anti-aging wonder oils.

You only need to use 2/3 pumps to get enough to cover the whole face and neck area, and massaging it in not only makes us feel like we’re giving our skin a real treat, it also helps us relax before bedtime. We try to follow these tips ourselves, especially the movement which targets lines on the forehead!

Despite being an oil, it is surprisingly light once applied. You can feel it on top of the skin at first, but within 5 minutes it really sinks in and leaves skin feeling really soft. So ridiculously soft and smooth in fact, that when we first started using Skin Salvation we kept touching our face in almost disbelief!

We’ve been using it for a few weeks now and can really notice the difference. Our skin is softer and smoother but also brighter and a little plumper. If we don’t use if for a few nights we do notice our skin appears duller and drier. It’s definitely made its way into our regular nighttime routine for good! Now we just want them to make a body oil that has the same affect!

Night Night! Our daily skincare routine…

If you haven’t already read our post on our morning skincare routine, then you can do so here. As we’ve said we thought we’d share our current favourites, and like a lot of people we have a different products that we use before bed. On reflection, we’re quite surprised at how many products we’ve got on the go at the moment, but it doesn’t take as long as you might think to get through all of this – honest! 

Here’s what we’re using before our head hits the pillow:

• Taaj Himalaya Micellar Water – We’ve already reviewed this makeup remover here. We use it on a damp cotton wool to remove the first layer of our makeup, as a “precleanse”.

• Temple Spa – In The Beginning Deep Cleansing Melt We love this luxurious cleanser so much, especially during the cold winter months we’re having at the moment. Read our full review here. 

• Temple Spa Toning Essence & Skinetica We use these two morning and night, see our earlier Morning All post. 

• Dermalogica – Overnight Clearing Gel If we’ve got a nasty blemish coming up or one that has already made an appearance, applying a blob of this gel before bed means that it is very often gone by morning, or at least very substantially reduced. We couldn’t live without this! 

• RapidLash & Brow Boost We’re currently undertaking a challenge to get our sparse brows and short lashes to grow! You can read our intro here. At the moment we’re applying both of these every night as directed and then let them dry before we finish up with our favourite facial oil. 

• Beatitude – Skin Salvation Facial Oil We’ll be doing a full review of this soon. We’ve been using it for a few weeks and we really love how it gives a really concentrated moisture boost and means we wake up with plumper and glowing skin.

Once we’ve applied all of these, we can get off to sleep guilt free. If we’re really tired or a tad worse for wear, we always try to at least use the Taaj makeup remover but we feel guilty if we do that too often! We also see a big difference in our skin if we do, so we think the extra 10 minutes a night is worth it! What’s your bedtime skincare routine like?
